Dear Parents and Carers,

We are writing to ask for your help in keeping our children safe when arriving at and leaving school.

We have noticed an increasing number of cars parking around both the front and back entrances of school, including on double yellow lines & on the "KEEP CLEAR" zig zags. This is creating dangerous situations for children crossing the road and making it very difficult for our crossing patrol to do their job effectively.

Why this matters

Our crossing patrol is there to protect your children. When cars park inconsiderately around the school entrances it blocks visibility for children trying to cross the road safely,
Prevents our crossing patrol from seeing approaching traffic,
Forces children to walk into the road to get around parked cars,
Creates congestion that puts everyone at risk,
Parking on double yellow lines and the KEEP CLEAR zig zags is an offence

Parking on double yellow lines is illegal and can be reported to the local authority. We want to work with you to avoid this, but we will take further action if necessary to protect our children's safety.
Please help us keep all our children safe by:

  • Not parking on double yellow lines or zig zags
  • Not parking directly in front of or near the school entrances (front or back)
  • Parking in a safe, legal location a short distance away and walking the rest of the way with your child
  • Allowing extra time for your journey so you're not rushed
  • Setting a good example for our children about road safety and following the rules.

If possible, please consider walking to school with your children. This is not only safer but also

  • Helps children start the day alert and ready to learn
  • Reduces congestion around school
  • Is better for the environment
  • Gives you quality time together

We know that mornings and afternoons can be busy times, but the safety of our children must come first.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school office and ask to speak to Mrs Willshaw or Mr Wood.

Thank you.
