School Council
What does school council look like at Harehills Primary School?
We elect our school councillors at the beginning of each academic year. The councillors chosen are given roles and responsibitlites that they focus on throughout the year. Our councillors speak to their classes every week about anything they would like to have discussed in our meetings. We have school council meeting each week.
Why do we have a school council?
Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) says that children and young people should have a say in decisions that affect their lives. A school council is a way for our children to have their say on issues that they feel passionate about.

Current Projects
Fiver Challenge
The school council of Harehills Primary School have been channelling 'The Apprentice' and have been challenged.
to start a business with just £5.00!
In our meetings, we discussed what businesses would be profitable and how we could get the most of our five pounds. We decided to invest our money into baking ingredients to make and sell shortbread cookies!

We will be selling our cookies at school for 50p and will be reinvesting any profit into further projects.
School council would love to hear from you about any other projects we can embark on to improve our school community! We are easily spotted around school wearing our new school council badges and lanyards. Please speak to your class councillor, teacher or write on the worry wall if you have any suggestions. Remember: Young Voices Count!
